Ongoing Programme Information
From April 2014 we will be on Netley Common every other Wednesday. There will no longer be a Sunday task. To find when there is a task use the contact information on the netley-common page.
No task on New Year’s day
Perhaps it’s not surprising, but there will not be a task on the 1st January!
October’s Sunday task cancelled
Because of lack of personnel, we’ve unfortunately cancelled October’s task. Back next month.
Change of Tasks’ Frequency
From next week (25th September) we will be changing the tasks’ frequency to once a fortnight (but still having an outing on the second Sunday a month). For more details on this decision and the motivation behind it, see the Minutes for our last meeting, which you can find in the “Members’ Area”.
On the last visit to Mansbridge and the Monks Brook, the balsam was in flower and about to set seed, so it was deemed unproductive to do any more pulls this season. However, the section we covered was reasonably clear so we should have a good starting point for next season. Balsam, you have been warned!
Apparatus of the Month for July announced
The “Apparatus of the Month” for July is of course that workhorse of any practical conservation group, the lopper. Justice is done!
Nominations for “Apparatus of the Month” for July
The nominations are in for “Apparatus of the Month” for July. So it could be the indomitable rabbiting spade, or the workhorse of any practical conservation group, the lopper. Excitement is mounting!
Tasks in the Process of Change for July
As we get into the swing of running our own group, we’re trying to get better at programming tasks. In the meantime, those for June and July are still morphing from one type to another. Please bear with us and check carefully before setting off to Netley Common!
New Members only page
There’s now a Members-only page on the menu bar. This is password protected, not for high security, but just because there isn’t anything there that would interest anyone else. We shall have minutes of meetings and stuff like that there. So it will be really thrilling stuff! Join the team and you can delve into all the minutia of our doings.
Balsam pull with the Friends of Monks Brook Meadows
If anyone is available, we’ve been invited to take part in a himalayan balsam pull on the Monks Brook with the Friends of Monks Brook Meadows – see the task list for more information.
